The Highlands

We spent three days in the Highlands of Scotland.  We stayed in a Castle near where my ancestors are from.

We visited Loch Ness Exhibit which talked about the Loch Ness Monster, and the scientific investigations.  It had two of the actual submarines that went looking for Nessie.

Matthew with the Loch Ness submarine. Has holes in it so not very seaworthy now!

After that we went to Urquhart Castle which is an old abandoned castle on the shores of Loch Ness.

It was cool.

After the castle we drove way out into the Highlands to visit where my Great Great Grandfather was born.  We found the grave of his parents and some of his brothers and sisters.  He was born in 1883 and had 3 sisters and 7 brothers.

Family gravestone from my great grandparents & some of their children.

Edinburgh Zoo

We didn't get to see the Giant Pandas at Edinburgh Zoo because one was pregnant. But the day after we left, Edinburgh Zoo announced she isn't pregnant.

We did get to see lots of other animals like porcupines, meercats, Scottish wildcat, leopard, jaguar, tiger, lion, rhinos, koalas, wallabies, monkeys, penguins and zebras.

My favourite animal was the Scottish Wild Cat.  I also really liked the rhinos.

Here are some pictures of some of the animals we saw.
